It has been one heck of a long week and I nearly lost it in a meeting today when it looked like all the brain-stormed ideas from other managers were turning into yet more projects for me and my department, with no additional resources to be made available, when we're barely keeping our collective heads above water as it is.
So.
Something easy for now: this little "where you've been" thing that is making the rounds. You know how it works: bold the states you've been to, underline the states you've lived in and italicize the state you're in now...
Alabama / Alaska / Arizona / Arkansas / California / Colorado / Connecticut / Delaware / Florida / Georgia / Hawaii / Idaho / Illinois / Indiana / Iowa / Kansas / Kentucky / Louisiana / Maine / Maryland / Massachusetts / Michigan / Minnesota / Mississippi / Missouri / Montana / Nebraska / Nevada / New Hampshire / New Jersey / New Mexico / New York / North Carolina / North Dakota / Ohio / Oklahoma / Oregon / Pennsylvania / Rhode Island / South Carolina / South Dakota / Tennessee / Texas / Utah / Vermont / Virginia / Washington / West Virginia / Wisconsin / Wyoming / Washington D.C /
I was tempted to underline Washington, DC, since I lived literally across the street from it for about a year. No kidding, I lived on the Maryland side of Eastern Avenue in Takoma Park, while the folks across the street were in DC. Made life interesting for the 911 dispatchers.
Just to make it a bit more personal, and who knows, maybe a weensy bit more interesting, I'll add this:
Married in: Maine
Worked in: Maryland, DC, Texas, Virginia, and Pennsylvania
States where I have siblings: Virginia, Georgia, California
Go here to have a form generate that big chunk of HTML for you.

Hello Janis, Sorry but I did make mistakes, I re-did it below. (I don't mind if you delete my inital post.)
Hmmm, seems I lose the underlines when I paste and I don't know how to fix that. So
Bold are the states I've been to, or lived in and italicize is where I live now.
Alabama / Alaska / Arizona / Arkansas / California / Colorado / Connecticut / Delaware / Florida / Georgia / Hawaii / Idaho / Illinois / Indiana / Iowa / Kansas / Kentucky / Louisiana / Maine / Maryland / Massachusetts / Michigan / Minnesota / Mississippi / Missouri / Montana / Nebraska / Nevada / New Hampshire / New Jersey / New Mexico / New York / North Carolina / North Dakota / Ohio / Oklahoma / Oregon / Pennsylvania / Rhode Island / South Carolina / South Dakota / Tennessee / Texas / Utah / Vermont / Virginia / Washington / West Virginia / Wisconsin / Wyoming / Washington D.C /
Lived in: Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Texas
Currently upstate New York.
Married in: Illinois
Worked in: Illinois, Texas, New York
States where I have siblings: 1-Oregon, 3-Illinois

That said, for me Utah, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan were airport stopovers, South Carolina, Georgia, Delaware, Maryland were drive-thoughs (though I spent most of a day in Baltimore at a meeting). If those do not count, ignore them.

You have got to go to New Mexico and Arizona! Beautiful desert....I've lived in both of those states and loved it. I didn't know you've lived in Texas...

Dang it, what's going on with the underlines? Hmmmm....
Well, I thank you all for posting your info. I love this kind of stuff; it's a nice way to discover little connections.
Ken (Chrashing), I deleted your first post since you said it was okay. You have the middle states well-represented, but you need to take a trip down the east coast. ;)
Michelle, I'd love to visit New Mexico. My brother has been several times and I get jealous looking at the photos. I have to admit that when the spouse and I are considering destinations, anyplace with water, such as a coast and a place to kayak, is going to get our attention. Our hearts are in Maine, and that's where we tend to return again and again. As for living in Texas... well... I was born in central Texas (Dad went to UT), lived there for the nursery school years, came back for summers with Grandma, and once worked for a month on a sweet (and hilarious) consulting gig in Galveston. Haven't been back in over 18 years.
Calling it an early night: I am completely behind on posting donkey photos, answering emails from some fellow donkey lovers, and updating the blog, but am feeling very under the weather and need to retreat to the comfy confines of my bed. Good night!

I didn't do the exercise, but noticed at one time you lived a stone's throw from where I grew up. Way back in the 60's and 70's, I lived on Fenton St. on the Silver Spring/Takoma Park line near Montgomery College. I used to cross the train tracks, before Metro, and cut through Jessup Blair Park to hit the D.C. line. I found your website a little while back, purely by accident, linking from other blogs. Small world, eh?
p.s. Love those donkeys.

Fenton Street! I moved to Silver Spring from New Carrollton (and before then, Bowie) in the early 80s. I even took a few courses at Montgomery College. The Metro was there by that time - very handy to my job in DC. A small world indeed!
Heehee, or perhaps I should say heehaw, Molly and Ambrose thank you for the good wishes. :)
