Knitty has a pattern for a cool Peruvian inspired hat that, judging by the ski theme, also has a fair bit of Nordic influence. The pattern is well beyond my current skill level, but check out the model's companion in the photo that accompanies the pattern. The little fuzzy-faced mini is from Scorybrek Farm in Toronto. Talk about tiny! These minis take "small" to a whole new level, perhaps a little too small for my tastes, but well worth a visit to the site for the most endearing jennet/foal photo you'd ever hope to see.
Also worth mentioning, Scorybrek Farm is a breeder of West Highland White Terriers. According to their owner, the Scorybrek miniature donkeys, in a break from the traditional donkey-canine feud, love Westies. Now, if only there were photos of the Westies and donkeys happily mixing it up....

What swell little critters! I am such a softy. Still mourning my kitty friend of 18 years, Widget!
My wife has taken up knitting, and I'm passing the URL to her. So far I've gotten a scarf, but she is a wonder, and and I'm expecting great things now that she has taken up the passion!
